Make Your Jewelry Last Longer
While our jewelry is extremely durable and resistant to rust and tarnish, the gold plating can still wear off over time. Proper care can extend the life of the plating, and here are a few recommendations:
Gentle Cleaning: Use a soft cloth to wipe down your gold-plated jewelry to remove oils and dirt. If necessary, use lukewarm water and mild soap, gently cleaning the surface, and then ensure you dry it thoroughly.
Avoid chemicals: rinse your jewelry after exposure to chlorine and saltwater with clean tap water, (taking a shower is fine). Keep away from harsh chemicals, such as household cleaners or bleach.
Storage: Store your gold-plated pieces separately from other jewelry in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box to prevent scratches. Avoiding contact with other pieces helps maintain the integrity of the coating.
Limit Wear: The gold layer in plated jewelry can wear away over time, so give your pieces a break. Rotating your jewelry and not wearing the same piece every day can prolong its lifespan.
It's really not that hard – make sure to keep them clean so dirt don't start piling up. Make sure to rinse of when exposed to saltwater and chlorine, and make sure to keep them away from bleach and other household chemicals.
